The District
Council are the authority which deal with street closures under Section 21 of the Town and Police Clauses
Act 1847. This would include applications for events such as:-· - Street
Parties
- Processions
- Illuminations/fireworks
We
will require the following details:-· - Name of organisation
- Brief
details of event/date and time
- Number of people attending
- Name
of roads and lengths to be closed
- Parking arrangements
- Traffic
diversion route
- Marshalling arrangements
The organisers
are responsible for: - The adequate signing of alternative routes, and
the prompt removal of signage after the event.
- The provisions of marshals, together
with any insurance considered necessary to cover both personal injury to marshals and public liability.
- The provision of any necessary access for emergency vehicles.
- The
notification, to the police, before the event, of the name(s) of a person or persons(s) to whom the
police may refer, as necessary, at the event.
- Contacting people such as taxis and
bus companies who may be affected by the closure and arranging alternatives.
