West Wiltshire Core Strategy

The Core Strategy will set out a spatial vision for the towns and villages within West Wiltshire for the next 20 years and how that vision is to be delivered through development and the use of land. It will replace the strategic parts of the previous District Plan and will indicate broad areas for future growth in the District but will not identify specific sites. The Core Strategy is the main document in the Local Development Framework.

Consultation has started on this important document. The Council has prepared 5 issues papers, one for each of the community areas within West Wiltshire. These papers reflect what has already been identified in community area plans.

We will use your initial views to help develop a spatial vision and potential options for tackling the issues raised and for meeting local needs. We will then ask you to choose options or to suggest other options during autumn 2007. The best options will be published in a draft Core Strategy and we will seek your views on this during 2008.
