Local Land Charges

What We Do

The Local Land Charges section maintains the Local Land Charges Register. The Register contains a list of all Orders or decisions made by the District Council and other agencies which affect land and property within its area. These entries are wide-ranging in nature and include such matters as:

  • planning decisions
  • whether roads are adopted highway
  • details of grants given by the Council which may be payable if a property is sold
  • listed buildings
  • conservation aeas etc

The Local Land Charges Register (the Register) is a list of certain decisions made by local authorities that affect land. We must maintain this register by law. The Register is searched by people when they buy houses. The most important features of the service are therefore accuracy and speed.
