Entry Requirements
Any scheme completed between 1st January 2006 and 31st December 2007 may be entered for the awards. Entries are not restricted to one per scheme and you do not need to be the owner or designer of the scheme to nominate it.
Two separate awards will be offered in 2008:
- Design Awards from Planning Policy and Conservation
- Built In Quality Awards from Building Control
It is possible for a scheme to win awards or commendations in one or both of these areas.
Each scheme will fall into one or more of the following categories:
A - Commercial
(Including
new build and extensions, large or small)
B - Housing or Residential
(Any
scheme of two or more units)
C - A single House, Conversion or Extension
D - Public or Community Project
(Schemes
undertaken in the public interest)
E - Sustainable Development
(Any
scheme incorporating sustainable characteristics, from concept through to the use of sustainable materials
and energy conservation techniques)
Judging
The schemes will be judged against the following criteria:
- Innovative or creative design
- Quality of workmanship, including evidence of good site management and building techniques
- Enhancement of the architectural heritage of the District
- Demonstration of use of sustainable techniques and materials, including energy saving solutions
- Use of good quality materials and craftsmanship
- Accessibility to a greater range of facilities for everybody
- Improvement to the street scene and the wider context
Nominations should meet at least one of the above criteria.
