Parking Fines - Penalty Charge Notices

The Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)

Currently the penalty for breaking a parking restriction in West Wiltshire is either £50 or £70 depending on the severity of the contravention.

If the penalty is paid within 14 days of issue, then it will be discounted by 50% to either £25 or £35.

Civil Enforcement Officers (previously known as Parking Attendants) cannot accept payment.

How and Where can I pay a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)?

Details of how and where to pay a Penalty Charge will be given on the back of the PCN.

Do not send or make payment if you wish to challenge your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). Doing so will result in your case being closed and the Council will be unable to accept your challenge.

Please write the PCN number on the back of the cheque or postal order including the payment slip from the bottom of the PCN to:

Please remember to bring your PCN or the payment slip with you. If you have lost either of these please ensure that you make a note of your Vehicle Registration Number.

Discounted and Late Payment of Penalty Charge

  • Payment received within 14 days of issue – 50% discount available
  • Payment received within 28 days of issue – full penalty payable
  • Notice to Owner (NtO) served 28 days after issue
  • Charge Certificate served 28 days after NtO – charge increased by 50%

If payment is not received within 14 days of the service date of the Charge Certificate the Council will take steps to enforce payment.
