Lacock is a delightful village, much of which is owned by The National Trust. Besides cultural attractions, there are historic pubs, tea rooms and a National Trust shop. Lacock Abbey was founded in 1232 and converted into a country house after 1539. It was home to the Talbot family, who gave the Abbey and village to The National Trust. Particularly interesting are medieval cloisters, sacristy, chapter house, 16th century stable, court tower and chimneys. Its Gothic Hall was built in 1754.
The Fox Talbot Museum photographically commemorates the achievements of William Henry Fox Talbot (1800 - 1877).
