Community Sport Network

West Wiltshire’s Community Sport Network (WWCSN) is an initiative developed by Sport England to ensure those involved in grass roots sport, active recreation and physical activity have a forum to meet and exchange ideas and to shape the development of sporting opportunities in their area.  It is an instrument to enhance communication between partners aspiring to provide an active healthy lifestyle, in addition to catering for the specific needs of the community.  CSN’s are an integral element of the delivery system for sport developed by Sport England.  The CSN is a partnership committed to promoting and delivering projects and initiatives that encourage physical activity, active recreation and sport for all.  

The partners involved in the WWCSN include the District Council, Local Strategic Partnership, DC Leisure Management Ltd, County Sports Partnership, School Sport Partnership and a representative from the local voluntary sport sector.  The group have developed a vision and themes which are below. Vision

The partnership aims to encourage every member of the community to take part in physical or recreational activity. We will provide, support or facilitate opportunities for those who wish to take part in formal and informal sport and recreational activities either through volunteering, coaching or participating.  We will focus at a local level and will support projects and clubs that make an impact both to individuals and the community.

Themes

1.Increase numbers of people taking part in sport and active recreation by 1% year on year
2.Widen access to opportunities for sport and active recreation
3.Bring together and align partners existing priorities and targets within one joined up local action plan for active recreation within the CSN area, based upon the needs of local communities and ensuring clarity in roles and responsibilities
