Southwick Country Park

Southwick Country Park provides a wonderful opportunity for people to wander at will through 40 hectares of open fields. The Hope Nature Centre cafe, which is accessed by a track leading from the main car park, provides a pleasant setting for lunches, snacks and coffees.

The network of thick hedges harbour a large number of song birds, and a stream and ponds add interest - your might be lucky enough to see a kingfisher!

Thousands of trees have been planted over the past 10 years by volunteers and college students and recently several lengths of hedges have been managed by volunteers with the West Wilts Community Wildlife Project.

A circular path provides access for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

To develop the park further we need financial help and more volunteers to carry out works such as tree and shrub planting, clearing ditches, laying hedges, planting wild flowers and acting as wardens. The Council also still requires financial help through sponsorship and donations. For further information, please contact the Property and Estates section - tel 01225 776655.

West Wiltshire District Council is preparing plans to develop new features on the site while retaining its distinctive country park feel.

The Country Park is situated on the west side of Trowbridge between Trowbridge and Southwick off the A361. There is a small car park at the entrance to the park. It is also within walking distance of Trowbridge and Southwick, and bus route 234 (Trowbridge to Frome) stops close to the park.
