Hope Nature Centre has been set up at Southwick Country Park, with the support of West Wiltshire District Council and others, to create a working occupation for adults with learning disabilities.
The first stage of the centre - a country style tea-room called Squirrels - is now open. The log cabin style cafe, open 7 days a week from 9.30am - 4.30pm, serves a range of freshly prepared light refreshments, lunches and cream teas. There is also a gift shop selling a variety of local crafts and souvenirs.
Future developments planned at the centre include a nature trail, including various animals - rabbits, pigmy goats, deer, chickens, pot bellied pigs and an aviary of birds. Greenhouses will also be built, enabling the young adults to pot up plants and hanging baskets etc, which will be sold in the shop.

In the future, a play area, pitch and putt and other activities are also planned.
