Private sector leasing scheme

As part of the Council’s temporary accommodation, Sarsen Housing Association manages rented properties in the private sector under the ‘Private Sector Leasing Scheme’ (PSL). Sarsen manages a variety of properties houses, flats and studio flats in the West Wiltshire area.

Landlords

This scheme is open to all current landlords and prospective landlords. A lease will be signed between you and Sarsen for at least two years. The scheme offers you, the landlord, various benefits which include guaranteed monthly rent, responsibility of the council tax bills, water, gas and electric and general maintenance of the property. Under the PSL scheme you have the guarantee that your property will be returned to you in its former state.

Tenants

The housing needs team use the properties as a form of temporary accommodation for households whilst a homelessness investigation is completed and whilst waiting for permanent accommodation once a household has been accepted under the homelessness legislation.

There are no initial costs to move into one these properties; however you will be responsible for paying all the monthly bills including monthly rental, council tax, water, electric and gas. You may be eligible to claim housing benefit and / or council tax benefit, a representative from Sarsen will assist you in completing all the relevant forms.
