Housing Register

The way that West Wiltshire District Council operates its housing register has changed. It will enable people to choose the home they want to live in.

Under Homes4WestWilts, everyone on the housing register will be able to ‘bid’ for vacant properties, which will be advertised locally and on the Council’s website, and this will give applicants greater choice than ever before. Bandings will replace points, and allocations will go to the bidder with the highest banding who has been on the register for the longest. There will also be a priority system, to help those in greatest need of housing to get the home they want.

We estimate that approximately 500 people attended the launch day on 12 April and the feedback has been very positive.
