How to appeal a decision

Housing Register Decision

If you have applied to be on the housing register and you are not happy with your banding or another matter you have a right to appeal.

To do this you must write to the Housing Register & Support team leader and give your reasons in writing within 21 days of receiving your banding notification letter.  Please give the reasons why you think the decision should be reviewed, and provide any information which you think should be considered.

The Housing Register Team leader will review the decision and notify you of the outcome within 10 working days.

The Homes 4 West Wilts Partnership board will then deal with any difficult appeals.

Homelessness Decision

If you have made a homelessness application and had a decision in writing that you are not happy with, you have a right to appeal under the following criteria.

  • Whether or not you are eligible for assistance;
  • What duty is owed to you under the Act;
  • The referral of your application to another authority;
  • The duty in case of a referral;
  • Whether accommodation offered to you is suitable.

To request a review, you should write to the Housing Needs Manager, West Wiltshire District Council, within 21 days of receiving your decision  letter, giving the reasons why you think the decision should be reviewed, and giving us any information which you think should be considered.

The Housing Needs Manager will carry out the review, and will notify you of the decision under that review within 56 days of your request for a review.
