Enforcement of Standards

The Council is responsible for ensuring that all private housing is fit for occupation.

The Environmental Protection team offers advice and guidance on the standards acceptable in privately rented properties including Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO's). We can assist with issues including disrepair, fire safety, management of properties, gas and electrical safety and overcrowding  

We will investigate complaints from private tenants about their housing conditions, and provide advice or take action to secure improvements where appropriate.
