Other Benefits whilst you are working

As well as Housing and Council Tax Benefit there are other benefits you can claim which can help increase your income whilst you are in work:

Working Tax Credit

is payment from the Government to support people on a low income. Your don’t need children to qualify for Working Tax Credit but there is a child care element which may apply if you have children. For more information and to claim please telephone 0845 3003900.

Child Tax Credit

is payment from the Government to support people with children. Eligibility and how much you can get depends on your family income. For more information and to claim please telephone 0845 3003900.

Disabled Tax Credit

is for people who are able to work at least 16 hours a week but have an illness or disability which limits their earning capacity. To claim a person must be aged 16 or over and receive a qualifying benefit. For a claim form or more information please phone 0845 6055858.

Back to Work Bonus

is if you have been receiving Job-seekers Allowance for more than 3 months and have been working part time. You can build up entitlement to a lump sum of up to £1000 which will be paid when you move off benefit into work. More details are available from your local Job Centre or Benefits Agency.
