Housing and Council Tax Benefits

Housing & Council Tax Benefit

Please see the Local Housing Allowance link below if you are claiming on or after 7 April, 2008 or you would like to learn more about the changes to the Housing Benefit scheme.

If you are living on a low income we may be able to help with your Council Tax and Rent. We can also point you in the right direction regarding other Benefits.

From 1 April 2004, you may be able to claim council tax benefit on the total amount that is due even if you are living in a property in Band F and above. Not everyone will qualify to receive help, but we can only assess whether there is entitlement if you make a claim and supply the information to support that.

Benefit is calculated by taking into account your income and capital, and also the number of people living in your home, their ages and their personal circumstances. The sooner you claim, the sooner we can try to help. Any entitlement generally starts from the Monday following receipt of your claim. Don't miss out on what is rightfully yours because you have not filled in the forms.
