Health Promotion

The Council's role in health promotion

Although the provision of health care is not one of the statutory functions of the Council, health issues are a high priority for our communities. We work closely with partner organisations such as the Wiltshire Primary Care Trust towards the improvement of local health care provision, and ultimately the health of our communities.

The projects delivered by a number of partners, including the Primary Care Trust and DC Leisure contribute in a practical way to addressing the national targets for high priority issues including coronary heart disease, diabetes, and falls prevention for older people.
