Green bins

Each household is entitled to one green bin only.

Green bins can be used to recycle compostable garden waste, such as grass cuttings, hedge clippings, cut flowers etc. The waste collected in this way is turned into compost at Lower Compton, near Calne, and the end product then sold both in bulk and in smaller bags as Warrior compost.

The commercial composting process takes 12 weeks, and the end product has to meet the quality standard BSI PAS100 2005. The Warrior compost produced in Wiltshire is accredited by both the Soil Association and the Composting Association, so it is vital that it continues to meet these high standards to be economically viable.

What can go in the green bins? (Contaminated green bins will not be emptied)
