Commercial waste and recycling
Commercial businesses must use a contractor to dispose of their waste legally. Details of waste management companies can be found in telephone directories or online, but West Wiltshire District Council offers a collection service.
West Wiltshire District Council's commercial waste service is run by Focsa Services UK Ltd. Focsa is committed to delivering a high quality service and it has put together a competitive price plan to cater for your waste-disposal needs. Despite an increase in landfill tax and other inflationary price rises, Focsa has rationalised its service so that it can offer you these competitive rates.
The table below lists the guideline prices for the year from 1 April 2008 through to 31 March 2009, both per pick up and for a weekly collection service, for each of the bin sizes on offer:

Alternatively, if you do not have the room for a wheeled bin or you do not generate enough waste to warrant using one, you can purchase a roll of sacks. This cost includes collection. We can give you a regular collection day if you generate enough waste or you can have an on-demand service where you call up to arrange collection. We sell the sacks in multiples of 25:
- Roll of 25 sacks: £37.50 (including VAT £44.06)
To set up a contract with Focsa, please call 01225 776655 so that a customer services advisor can take your details. Once you receive the relevant paperwork, we need you to fill in a Duty of Care - Controlled Waste Transfer Note, so that we are legally entitled to carry your waste, and a Trade Waste Contract so that collections can begin.
Your Trade Waste Contract will specify your collection day, but in principle weekly collections will be made in the following areas on the following days:
- Bradford on Avon and surrounding area: Monday
- Warminster and surrounding area: Tuesday
- Trowbridge and surrounding area: Wednesday
- Melksham and surrounding area: Thursday
- Westbury and surrounding area: Friday.
Please be aware that there are certain types of waste that we cannot collect (for example, we cannot collect hazardous waste) but we aim to cater for as many materials as possible.
With the annual increases in Landfill Tax it will soon become cost efficient to recycle your commercial waste rather than send it to landfill. To help to reduce the amount of waste that you send to landfill there are recycling services available in this district. Again, details of waste management companies can be found in telephone directories and online.
