Pollutants and Health - Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

Volatile Organic Compounds (outdoor)

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) include such compounds as benzene and 1,3-butadiene and methane.

The significance of VOCs, apart from their own direct health impacts, is that many are precursors of low-level ozone and/or are 'greenhouse gases' (and therefore potentially implicated in global climate change) which in turn influence health.
