Air Quality Monitoring

Pollution Co-location Studies

Local Authorities throughout the UK make significant use of nitrogen dioxide diffusion tubes to support their air quality Review & Assessment work. Currently West Wiltshire have 11 nitrogen dioxide diffusion tube monitoring sites across the district. View map of monitoring locations (PDF file, opens in new window).

The performance of the tubes can be judged by running them alongside automatic monitors (chemiluminesence analysers). Local Authorities are encouraged, as part of their Air Quality Review & Assessment work, to locate tubes alongside automatic analysers to help determine any bias.

West Wiltshire are currently running a collocation study in Bradford On Avon. Three nitrogen dioxide diffusion tubes are located next to the automatic analyser in Mr Salvats Coffee Shop, 44 St Margarets Street, Bradford On Avon.
