The Secretary of State issued Regional Planning Guidance for the South West (RPG10) in September 2001. Under the new planning system, this document is now the Regional Spatial Strategy and contains policies to guide regional development until the year 2016. The Regional Assembly is now in the process of producing a new Regional Spatial Strategy to provide spatial planning policies for the region up to 2026 and beyond.
