Under the new planning system, the Development Plan for West Wiltshire comprises a Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) for the South West produced by the Regional Assembly and a series of Development Plan Documents for West Wiltshire produced by the District Council and known collectively as the West Wiltshire Local Development Framework. All local planning authorities must have a Local Development Framework in place by April 2007.
