West Wiltshire District contains a variety of attractive landscapes; indeed, approximately 30% of the district is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
There are two AONBs in the district - The Cotswolds AONB and the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs AONB - and the Local Development Framework contains a policy which specifically protects these areas.
The Cotswolds AONB extends into the north west corner of the District along the Avon Valley to the western boundary of Bradford on Avon. It covers just less than 3% of the District. The District Council is a member of the Cotswolds Conservation Board. For more information visit www.cotswoldsaonb.org.uk
The Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs AONB extends across the southern part of the district, south of Warminster, and covers approx 27% of the district. The District Council is a member of the AONB partnership. For more information visit the website www.ccwwdaonb.org.uk
