To identify what can be done to encourage wildlife, the project will first carry out a wildlife audit of the Council's open spaces. The Council owns some superb sites, such as Biss Meadow, next to Tesco's in Trowbridge, where Cath is already encouraging local youngsters to get to know its wildlife inhabitants. She is also working with residents at other sites, such as Southwick Country Park, to create wildlife friendly habitats that will bring more birds and flowers into our urban areas for people to enjoy, in the hope that they can actively support wildlife and have fun.
Would you like to help with a survey, be it frogs or flowers, butterflies or birds? It doesn't matter if you haven't done this before!
If you would like to be involved in any way, have any suggestions on what may benefit wildlife in your local park, or simply want to find out more, contact Cath Mowat - email cmowat@westwiltshire.gov.uk or telephone 01225 770361.
