Nature Conservation
Caring for our Environment
West Wiltshire District Council gives a high priority to the protection and enhancement of the parks, open spaces, waters, trees and vegetation under its control. Over the past few years, the use of harmful pesticides has been reduced to a minimum. Alternative methods of control such as mulching bark and ground cover planting have been used instead.
Other environmental schemes such as creating riverside walks and extensive tree planting schemes have also been implemented. The Council is keen to encourage and promote environmental initiatives and works alongside residents, voluntary groups and local businesses to maintain the nature environment and the attractive character of the countryside.
