Grounds Maintenance

The grounds maintenance contract for all areas owned or maintained by West Wiltshire District Council was awarded to English Landscapes Ltd with effect from 1st December 2007. The service covers gardening, tree and shrub maintenance, grass cutting in public spaces, maintenance of council owned sports pitches & parks, maintenance of streams & water courses for the length that they run through council land. Our aim is to offer a professional quality service that ensures that the people who live in and visit West Wiltshire can enjoy the benefits of:

  • Parks and urban open spaces - for public enjoyment and recreation;
  • Well maintained play areas for children - publicly accessible and designated equipped play areas in towns and villages where toddlers and teenagers can play safely;
  • Playing fields and sports pitches - outdoor areas where people can take part in active recreation, either formally or informally;
  • Nature areas - landscaped areas that are specifically managed to encourage wildlife;
  • Riverside walks, lakes and ponds - areas near water features with amenity and wildlife benefit;
  • Trees and woodlands - individual or groups of trees managed for amenity purposes and wildlife;
  • Green corridors along transport networks - landscaped areas along roads, railways or paths used as a main transit route.

The Grounds Maintenance contract is overseen by the Grounds & Cleansing team headed up by the Grounds & Cleansing Manager and based at Riverway Depot, Trowbridge.

Vandalism

We would encourage people to report any incidences of vandalism in the parks or open spaces in the district - reports should be sent to customerservices@westwiltshire.gov.uk or you can telephone 01225 776655.
