Enquiries about West Wiltshire District Council Land Ownership

The District Council's land ownership extends across 5 towns in West Wiltshire. These are Bradford on Avon, Melksham, Trowbridge, Warminster and Westbury and the surrounding villages.

The Legal Services section is responsible for the maintenance of the deeds relating to the Council's land ownership and is happy to deal with such enquiries from members of the public.

Land Owned by the District Council

If you would like to contact us with an enquiry about District Council land ownership, you have a choice of methods:

Method 1

You can use our online form - just fill in the information on screen, including a description of the land in question, and click to submit the form to us (we will contact you again if we need to ask for further details);

Please note: if you send us the online form you will also need to separately send us an email with an electronic copy of a map attached.

Method 2

You can use our print and post form - print off an enquiry form, complete and return to us enclosing a map of the land in question (this may give you a quicker response as maps can identify the land more accurately). NB - the print & post form is a PDF file. If you do not have Adobe Reader on your PC please click the icon to download a free copy.

Land not owned by the District Council

If the land is not owned by the District Council, it may be registered with the Land Registry, in which case they would hold ownership details.

In order to find out, you can go to the Land Registry website - www.landreg.gov.uk and follow the steps below:

• Select "Publications and Forms"
• Select publication category "Land Registration Forms"
• Click on "View Publications"
• Click on Adobe
• Select Form 313
