Dangerous Structures

The Building Control section is responsible for dealing with any building or structure that becomes dangerous within the West Wiltshire area.

Our surveyors are on call-out 24 hours a day and work with other Emergency Services to provide advice, guidance and in extreme cases take steps on any issue affecting public safety. This may include fencing off, making safe or shoring up the structure and also scaffolding and demolishing.

Buildings may become dangerous over time due to old age, deterioration or settlement, or by damage caused by more dramatic events such as fire, impact, explosion or storm damage.
