31/07/2006 Before the penultimate visit I did explain on the telphone what has been done re an inspection hatch (to rectify potential plumbing problems) in the plaster beside the RSJ. It would have saved our time and yours if it had been explained on the telephone that this was not allowed. (Although it seemed overkill as any fire that would melt the RSJ through a tiny hole would be fairly fatal anyway).
31/07/2006 Some members of staff talk in a jargon hard for the lay person to understand. When I received planning permission I was not made aware that my solar hot water system would require a Building Control certificate.

31/08/2006 It is not clear on the paerwork who should submit the paperwork, the owner or the contractor. Hence, the completion certificate has come to me rather than the owner.

13/09/2006 The contact between me, as householder, and the inspector was negligible. He reviewed and discussed the job with the joiner who constructed the replacement moving windows and the fixed ones, keeping the original frames. It was a comparitively small job.
