Energy Efficiency Grants and Discounts

You could receive help towards keeping your home warmer

There are many sources of grant funding or discounts available for domestic energy efficiency measures

A brief summary of the schemes currently available is listed below. For more detailed information on these schemes or to apply for a grant please contact the Wiltshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre on 0800 512012.

Always ensure that your property is suitable to have their works carried out by having an appropriate survey carried out before any insulation measures are installed and make sure that you receive a guarantee from the installer for all works that are completed.

If you own your own home or rent it from a private landlord and fall into 1 of the following groups

Aged 60 and over and receiving one of these benefits:

  • Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance

Have a child under 16 or pregnant and have a MAT B1 and receiving one of these benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance

Anyone else who receives one of the following:

  • Attendance allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Income Support (disability premium)
  • Housing Benefit (disability premium)
  • Council Tax Benefit (disability premium)
  • Working Tax Credit (with income of less than £15,050 pa and which includes a disability premium)
  • Child Tax Credit (with income under £15,050 pa)
  • War Disablement Pension (which includes mobility supplement or Constant Attendance Allowance)
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (which includes Constant Attendance Allowance)

You may be entitled to insulation and heating improvements up to the value of £2,700 from the Warm Front grant scheme.

The types of work commonly carried out include -

  • Loft insulation
  • Cavity Wall Insulation
  • Draughtproofing
  • Hot Water Tank Insulation
  • Timer controls or thermostats for heating systems

If you are a homeowner or rent from a private landlord and do not qualify for the above scheme, you may still be entitled to subsidised cavity wall insulation or loft insulation from the HEAT Project. Call 0800 512012.

If you rent your home from a social landlord (such as a housing society or trust) and are receiving any of the following benefits:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Council Tax Benefit (not single occupancy discount)
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Pension Credit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (with Constant Attendance Allowance)
  • Child Tax Credit (with income of less than £14,600)
  • Working Tax Credit (with income of less than £14,200)
  • War Disablement Pension (with Constant Attendance Allowance)

You could receive free cavity wall and loft insulation under the Scottish Power HIPS grant scheme. Call 0800 512012
