Within the District there are a large number of Scheduled Ancient Monuments, the most well known being the White Horse at Westbury.
Any issues relating to archaeological sites are generally dealt with by Wiltshire County Council's Archaeologist who ca be contacted on 01225 713000 or at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/heritage/html/archaeology.html
Where proposals for development affect a Scheduled Monument written consent is required and forms for this procedure (known as Scheduled Monument Consent) can be obtained from the District Council Offices.
