Licensing - Sex Establishments

Under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 Schedule 3, the Council has a statutory duty to decide whether or not sex establishments should be granted a licence.

The Act provides a level of guidance on the location of such businesses, and it also specifies that the Council cannot consider objections on the grounds of morality.

The Council is drawing up a policy on licensing of sex establishments. This follows a consultation exercise in which local people’s views were sought. The policy will be published on this page once it has been approved.
