The Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963 requires that premises for boarding dogs and cats (kennels and catteries) must be licensed by the local authority

The fees, as of April 2007, for Animal boarding establishments are £180.00 (plus vet's charges) for an annual licence, and £150.00 (plus vet's charges) for a renewal where a complete application and fee is received before the expiry date of the old licence.
