This canal is probably one of the best known of the best known inland waterways in Britain, stretching for 87 miles from Bristol to Reading. One of the most beautiful stretches of the canal lies within West Wiltshire. A haven for wildlife, its waters are alive with boating, canoeing and fishing. The level towpaths are well maintained and are popular with walkers and cyclists. Alongside the canal you will find pubs, tea shops, marinas and many fine architectural features, including the Avoncliff and Dundas aqueducts.
