The District Auditor has published his annual letter reviewing the Council’s finances and performance for 2003/04. This will be considered by members at the Full Council meeting in February.
The letter indicates that the Council is making good progress and has soundly managed finances. There are no significant weaknesses reported.
Councillor Roy While, the finance and performance portfolio holder, said the positive tone of the letter was good news. "The District Auditor has recognised the progress that we have made, and also the priority that we give to maintaining sound finances. The coming year brings with it new challenges, not least with funding, but we are dealing with these through the budget process and we are planning well ahead."
He added: "We now have a corporate plan in place, which has identified our key priorities and how we will achieve the targets we have set in these areas."
