Look to the future, work in partnership, build on success

We believe that better partnership working for the county is essential. The Wiltshire Improvement Partnership (now disbanded) established a review of the existing partnership arrangements and consulted on what needed to change for stronger links with partners and better governance. During consultation prior to the unitary announcement, West Wiltshire, Salisbury and Kennet produced a document called 'Your voice, your future' - the right way forward for local government in Wiltshire. This outlined our determination to:

• Transform local government in Wiltshire in a way that reflects the needs of our citizens and customers
• Harness the advantages of better collaborative working
• Maintain and enhance local identity and distinctiveness
• Build upon Wiltshire's excellent track record of partnership working

We developed proposals around the four key areas of leadership and governance, joint working to create efficiencies, community engagement and customer focused improvements. A summary of our plans is available.[pdf file - opens in new window].
