FEES & CHARGES 2008 – 2009

Cemetery Fees

The following charges apply for interments that take place between 10am and 3pm Monday – Friday, 1 November to the last day of February, and between 10am and 4pm Monday – Friday, 1 March to 31 October, or on the certificate of a coroner or medical practitioner.

Cemeteries – monuments, memorials and inscriptions

For the right to erect or place on a grave or vault in respect of which the exclusive right of burial has been purchased (subject to maximum sizes).

• Flat stone or tablet – £125.00
• Headstone or foot stone – £125.00
• Kerb stone, border stone or cover stone – £200.00
• A vase incorporated in one of the above – Free

The fees above include the initial inscription.

• Further inscriptions for additional interments in the same grave – £50.00
• Use of Chapel – £80.00
• Search fee – £25.00

Interment of bodies (burials)

• Still born or any child not exceeding 17 years Free
• Body exceeding 17 years – £400.00
• Interment in a vault, walled grave or similar – £400.00
• Exclusive right of burial in earthen grave for 40 years – £380.00
• Exclusive right of burial – 10 year extension after 40 years – £95.00
• Exhumation of coffin – £2,000.00
• Body part – tissue – Free

Interment of cremated remains (ashes)

• Still born or any child not exceeding 17 years – Free
• Interment of ashes – £165.00
• Scattering of ashes in an existing grave – £55.00
• Exclusive right of burial of cremated remains for 40 years – £165.00
• Exclusive right of burial – 10 year extension after 40 years – £50.00
• Exhumation of cremated remains – £400.00
• Body part – ashes – Free

General Notes

The above charges are doubled if the deceased is not a resident of West Wiltshire District.

All work outside normal hours and on Saturdays the charges are doubled
